HISTORY
Built on our roots. Ready for our future.

The Formative Years
Junior football in Warrandyte began in 1954 under the banner of the Warrandyte Football Club (WFC), competing in the Eastern Football League (EFL). Driven by the
vision and dedication of pioneers such as Lawrie Sloan, Jim Voce and John McCartin Senior.
The Warrandyte Junior Football Club (WJFC) was established in 1974. By 1975, junior teams were taking the field across age groups.
Our foundations were built on the grit, passion and commitment of pioneering volunteers and local families. Their tireless efforts helped establish WJFC as a financially independent club, separate from the senior club, by 1979.
The Middle Years
Throughout our history, WJFC has celebrated memorable premierships, championed safety reforms in junior football and proudly developed pathways for boys and girls to progress into senior football.
Above all, the club has remained a place where
friendships are formed, families connect and a strong sense of community thrives.

The Modern Era
Between 1996 and 1998, WJFC embarked on a new chapter, moving first to the Doncaster Junior Football League before joining the Yarra Junior Football League(YJFL) in 1998, where the club fielded nine teams.
As girls' football grew, Warrandyte introduced its first Youth Girls team in 2011 following the YJFL's introduction of a girls' competition. A renewed recruitment drivein 2017 helped expand the program, with girls' teams established across most age groups. Today, our girls' program is stronger than ever, with opportunities for players across all age groups.
The Future of WJFC
In 2027, WJFC begins an exciting new chapter, returning to the Eastern Football Netball League (EFNL). We look forward to reconnecting with our Eastern suburbs,
strengthening our alignment with WFC and embracing the opportunities this next chapter will bring.
From our pioneering beginnings in 1954 to the exciting future ahead, the spirit of Warrandyte Junior Football Club remains unchanged. Built on family, community,
volunteerism and an enduring love of the game, we proudly carry our rich tradition forward into the 2027 season and beyond.
